We stopped here for breakfast on a crisp Sept Sat morning. There was a line but the wait wasn't too bad. The food was a different story. The scrambled eggs were dry. The grits were closer to lumpy paste. The bacon was chewy. The hot chocolate with whipped cream was good. It helped warm me up since I ended up under an A/C vent and I don't drink coffee. My friend does and she said it tasted a little off. So did the iced tea. Maybe it was the water. In their defense, there was a big HOA meeting being held in the back room so maybe the kitchen was overly stressed. However in the future I will walk the short distance up the street to their competition. The 10% discount from our hotel just wasn't worth it.

Okay, where do I begin? I pity this simple eatery, so I'll start off with the positives. The service was excellent, our waiter was friendly and attentive, not to mention very hospitable as is tradition in the south, for appetizer, my party and I had gotten the fried green tomatoes. They were accented with bits of corn, bacon, and shrimp, which I thought was a nice touch to compliment the little tang of the tomatoes. However, our main courses were lackluster. I and my friend had decided to both get the fish tacos, whilst the others got a custom calzone and blackened fish. The fish tacos were mediocre, the cod was cooked well, but the guacamole was bland, and the pico de gallo tasted like it was marinated for five days instead of prepared fresh. However, the coleslaw was the most disgusting thing I had ever tasted in my life, it was like they took a jar of mayo and left the cabbage in there to ferment for a year, ugh. The calzone was reported to be soggy and burnt at the same time, and the blackened fish was just too spicy. I feel bad for this place, but if they actually read the yelp reviews, they would improve.

I'm sure, given it is October, everything is a bit better at restaurants in MB than in the high season. I was actually headed to another restaurant and happened to spot this place close to my hotel. Thought I'd give it a try. Frankly (and I'm a stickler for good service), this place was exceptional. The waitress had a great personality, very friendly, and certainly attentive. The food was prepared exactly as I ordered. Place looked spotlessly clean. If my experience today is an indication, I'd be back there a lot, if I lived in the area.

No Stars. I've had horrible breakfasts at many places along the South and North Carolina coasts and this is possibly the worst of all. Snotty, runny whites in my over medium eggs, abysmal "home fries" that we're mushy, tasteless boiled (canned?) potatoes with weird orange fluff - I don't know how they can up-charge for that slop. And flavorless bacon also. Go anywhere else, I'm sure even a breakfast buffet place would be better than this. We're off to Bojangles now to get a proper breakfast.

Stopped in for breakfast, not expecting much. We questioned our decision as we walked in, but I'm glad we stayed! The hostess and waitress were so sweet! We were sat immediately, and had our drinks and order in within 10 minutes of being there. My fiancé got the The Hungry Boy with 2 grilled pork chops, and I had the John's Breakfast special. The food was good, and filling. Our waitress had refills for us right when we needed them and we didn't even have to ask! I'd definitely go back!

I agree with the other Yelpers, coffee is horrible! My grandparents would have LOVED it, they liked their coffee weak like slightly flavored water. Definitely would wait to pick up my Joe from the Starbucks a short distance away. Our breakfast was not outstanding but good and within walking distance from the Dayton House we were staying at which gave us a 10% discount. The country fried steak (which I order on a very rare occassion) was nice and crispy with good sausage gravy served with a yummy biscuit, eggs, and homefries . Family thought the pancakes were good but not the best. MBSC really needs an Original Pancake House...

Ok before I begin the review, I have to say that Josh is an awesome waiter! He rolled with the different things that my group threw at him (17 of us). Great job! Now time for the food: The chicken I added to my berry salad was dry. The chicken in the Cajun pasta was dry. The spinach that came with the salad was dry, maybe adding dressing will fix that. There was a lot of jalapeños in the Cajun pasta! The fries are very good and crispy. The shrimp was seasoned well. Overall, a nice establishment with friendly people.

I almost skipped due to the 1 star reviews.... Glad I didn't. I was on a tight timeline and ordered the moment I sat down (pancakes and oatmeal). She had piping hot cakes out in 3 minutes!! The food wasn't bad enough to hate or good enough to love. But it did the job. Entire meal with tax and over 20% tip was $10! (This includes 10% off via Yelp offer) My server was kind and most important allowed me to be in and out in 20 minutes! Don't expect gourmet and don't expect horrible and you won't be disappointed! Please thumb up/comment if you liked this review and I would count it a privilege if you chose to follow me as I review places I travel and visit. Thank you for taking the time to read! ~mp

The only reason I give them one star was bc I can't give them "0". They tried to double charge us for 2 calzones even tho we only ordered one. It took them almost an hour to get us anything and then the waiter/waitress took forever to come back. We weren't even sure who the wait staff was bc they barely checked in on us and then gave us the food and asked us if we wanted the checks also. Skip this place and go anywhere else. Mcdonalds is a 5 star compared to this place. Horrible!!!!!

This place is exactly why parts of the country are chock full of corporate chain restaurants. The lowest quality ingredients treated with the least amount of respect. In most places in the world this place would be vandalized or razed, but not Myrtle Beach SC, this is considered a "family run option". Fuck me standin! Maybe the Manson family should be recruited if that is our only standard of quality. If you have read this far and really care to hear about the food then you are as twisted as I was for even eating a fourth of the food on my plate. The "home fries" (.89 extra) have a yellowish dinge and a funky blandness that is reminiscent of rinsing your mouth at the dentist. The slime that surrounds the taters looks to have oozed out of a pustule from Manuel Noriega's teen years. (google it) The eggs ordered over medium were cold, with runny whites and the yellow had begun to fade. The toast came warm but served in a basket full of crumbs, dust and probably toe nails for all I know. This restaurant is not an option, hell this town isn't even an option. I would rather lick the biscuit crumbs off the shirt of a homeless man outside a Bojangles before visiting this cultural vacuum again. Service was fine, god bless these beauty queens who sling this slop daily.

Excellent service and delicious food at a great price. Try their pizza and chicken Marsala, both were yummy!

We stopped in with the and watched the Myrtle Beach Marathon from our both. Went with the waitress suggestion of the County Breakfast with Fried Tenderloin and was not disappointed. Great family feel in this non-chain gem. Give uncle Johhny a try

The first thing that you notice is the smell which is a mix of musty odor and shoes. We should have left at that point but we thought we'd get used to it. We didn't. The waiter was nice. The fried green tomatoes were ok. Everything else was not that good.

  • Lili B.

I will just never go to that place again. The service was one of the worst i have had in my life. The women was clearly discriminating my friend (who is a women of "color") and looked at us like she was better than us. She took forever to come get our order, did not smile for a single second, did not refill our drinks or even offer to give us water, almost threw each of our plates on the table and when i handed her my credit card instead of putting the bill on the room she looked at me like I was an Alien... It was just horrifying and i was extremely upset by this experience. The food was "decent. The fried steak probably contained an entire bottle of oil and the scrambble eggs were not good (How do you mess out eggs?) Myrtle beach is such a warm place with warm people . Go to other restaurant where they hire people with a warm heart.

  • Jason K.

One of the many breakfast places that Yelpers in Myrtle Beach will have to choose from. We got 10% off our meal because we were staying at the Dayton House. As others have mentioned, the coffee here is pretty bad, but the eggs, bacon, pancakes are typical for what you would get at other places in town. Worth eating at if it is close by, but not worth going a long distance for.

  • Sherrie E.

We ended up here because we got a BYGO 50% off coupon from our hotel. Ended up spending about $50 for the two of us, without drinks. The pork chops were dried out and the shrimp and grits was bland. We did get desserts, cheese cake tasted a bit like lemon and the chocolate bacon was just like monkey bread. We would never go back, eve. If the staff were super nice.

Not a very good experience. We went here around lunch time in the off season. The woman who took us to our table was apparently doubling as the hostess and the server. She sat us and 2 other tables at the same time. I ordered coffee and got it right away, but my friend ordered a v8 that didn't come. My vegetarian omelet came out cold, and I didn't get the toast that I ordered. My friend got a burger that looked terrible, and didn't come with any side. Halfway through my omelet, I still had no toast and my friend didn't have his v8. He wanted to order a side of ranch, but our server seemed to be avoiding us. I saw her come out of the kitchen 3-4 times and clear off tables on the other side of the restaurant. I also saw her standing around and making small talk with other employees. Finally, she came over to our table with my toast, and we asked about the v8 and the ranch. She brought those out right away with our check. I want to believe this was a bad day, because this place cannot possibly be this bad all the time. In fairness, it was march and they seemed understaffed. All the same, I won't be going back here again.

  • Gerry S.

I cannot speak to lunch or dinner but the breakfast (other than the home fries) is very, very good. The pancakes are exceptional. Eggs are eggs and the omelets are good and large. The servers can be brusque at times but are all good hearted and eager to help.

Very good, nice to go to a local place and get good food and good service. We will be back.

This is a great old breakfast diner. We went yesterday with our baby and had a great experience. The staff was all incredibly friendly and fawned over our baby which is always appreciated :) our server was so nice. Menu had the standard egg, pancake and waffle options with lots of opportunities to smother them with peanut butter, chocolate, whipped cream and even ice cream. For $27 we got more food than could fit on our table. The food quality was just ok but that's about what I expect from a diner.

  • John C.

This is just for the breakfast buffet, which is $6.99 (not sure when it is 4.99?) Everything was good to very good. Not a huge selection, but all was quality eats. They even offered to cook eggs to order (instead of the scrambled out on the buffet).

  • Nicole R.

Country diner style cooking. I enjoyed the sausage gravy. The pancakes are huge! The price is right and the atmosphere is comfortable. Seemed to be a lot of locals. Only thing I didn't care for was the coffee but I am a bit spoiled in that department. Will eat here again.

Coffee was horrible and my food was barely warm. Service was good but that was about it.

  • AR G.

Uncle John's was ok for what I've seen it was clean and the staff was pleasant. We tried grits for the first time. They tasted to me like mushy rice. A little salt and pepper not bad. Not something I could eat everyday. .
